Whether it's a hen night or just a friend's birthday, a special occasion can always be an excuse to celebrate with the girls. Nights out on the town are one option - but why not splash out on luxury spa hotels and have a whole weekend break to yourselves?
Weekend Number One: The Country Spa
If retreat and relaxation are what you seek, luxury spa hotels don't come much more secluded - or opulent - than Lucknam Park. Situated in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, this manor house spa revels in the majesty and romance of its location. The spa is impressively serene and chic - with an excellent set of treatments and pools - and there's a bewildering range of activities to help you work up a sweat first, from floodlit tennis to an enormous equestrian centre.
There's also a contemporary brassiere and a Michelin star restaurant here for evening entertainment and the spacious rooms are just as relaxing as the setting. Each has excellent views over the park, four poster beds and open fireplaces. If you club together for a suite, there's also a lovely sitting area where you can indulge in Afternoon Tea and chef's homemade shortbread.
Weekend Number Two: The City Spa
For girls who fancy a little night time entertainment and luxury therapy on their weekend away, heading to London for a spa can provide the perfect balance. Book into the fabulous Berkeley in Knightsbridge and you have all those fantastic designer shops (including world famous Harrods) right on your doorstep.
Recent refurbishments have added a welcome contemporary edge, but none of the hotel's exclusive history and glamour has been taken away. With London's only roof-top spa, indoor pool and sun deck, it's no surprise that the hotel is so popular. The Pret-a-Portea afternoon teas also can't be missed and the two Michelin star fine dining restaurant has some of the best service in the city - another excellent excuse to indulge!
Weekend Number Three: The Wine Country Spa
Chateau Les Merles has been transformed from a historic French country house into a stylish luxury hotel, with plenty of chic European touches. Boasting the perfect location for wine enthusiasts in the Dordogne's wine region, it's a great base for sampling the local vintages. The restaurant, La Bruyere Blance, also has its excellent selection to accompany the fresh French cuisine.
Each of the rooms is decorated in a clean, modern style, offering a simple and tranquil vibe. As there are only 15 rooms and suites in total, this spa hotel also has a suitably intimate feel which is great for friends looking to spend time together on a long weekend away.
